Wiggler

From Academic Kids

For the device see, wiggler (synchrotron)

Wiggler is the caterpillar-like creature in the Mario series of games. It made its first appearance in Super Mario World, where it first displayed its trademark characteristic of becoming red and enraged when jumped on by Mario, Luigi, or Yoshi. It usually has a yellow color. When it's calm, it wears a flower on its head. However, when it becomes angry its eyes become enraged, it loses its flower, and it becomes red.

Wigglers were seen occasionally in the animated series that spun off of the game. However, on the show, they were called just "Caterpillars", and were alway drawn like they had already been stomped.

It later appeared in various other Mario titles, including Super Mario 64 and Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga. Wiggler underwent some major changes in Super Mario Sunshine where it multiplied it's size times 10 and turned green.

It is unclear whether Wiggler is a unique creature or represents an entire race like Toad and Yoshi. It should be noted that the green version of Wiggler is probably unique, as it is referred to as Wiggler as if it were a proper noun.

In Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, a green metro/bus that closely resembles Wiggler, known as the Wiggler Train, appears as moving obstacle on the Mushroom City racing track.

Wiggler is also an unlockable character in Mario Power Tennis for the Nintendo GameCube. He is a defensive type, just like Waluigi. For his power shot, he turns red with anger and whacks the ball with brute strength. His defense power shot makes him turn into a flying Wiggler. With his temporary wings, he flies to get the ball.

A Wiggler is also a parallel port interface for either JTAG or BDM debugging. Slower than a Raven, it is however a stable, easy to use device. The Wiggler is a low-cost interface used in the design, debug, and programming of microprocessor and microcontroller based embedded systems. One side of the Wiggler interfaces to the parallel port of a host (like a IBM compatible PC) and the other side connects to an OCD (On-Chip Debug) port of the target system. This port may be JTAG, E-JTAG, OnCE, COP, BDM, or any of several other types of connections.Template:Cvg-stub
